Australian Government

National Landcare Programme

The Australian Government has announced that  it plans to merge the Caring for our Country and Landcare NSW programs to create a single National Landcare Programme.

Caring for our Country

Federally funded Caring for our Country  projects continue at the regional level under Local Land Services (LLS).

Under the Caring for our Country program,  landholders and environmental groups are provided with knowledge and skills in  natural resource management and to act as advocates for Caring for our Country in the broader community.

Landcare remains an integral part of  delivering services to rural and urban residents. Each LLS region will develop and manage a strong relationship with its local Landcare groups through its Local Community Advisory Group.

Caring for our Coast

LLS works with the Australian Government's Caring for our Coast project to deliver on-ground natural resource management outcomes across five priority areas including:

  • high priority native habitat and vegetation
  • Weeds of National Significance
  • World Heritage Areas
  • critical aquatic habitat
  • coastal hot spots.
