The North West Local Land Services (LLS) region extends from Moree Plains Shire Council in the north to Liverpool Plains Shire Council in the south, Walgett Shire Council in the east and Gwydir Shire Council in the west.
The North West LLS region is a productive agricultural area with summer dominant rainfall assisting crop and pasture growth across most of the year.
Traditionally a wheat growing area, key agricultural products include cotton, cereals and oil seeds, as well as sheep and beef produce.
Feral pigs are an issue across the region, with wild dogs also having a negative impact in the east of the North West LLS region. Mice and locusts also affect the central and western parts of the region from time to time. Managing these pests is a priority for North West LLS.
