LLS Chair calls on locals to make their vote count
06 December 2013
Chair of the North West Local Land Services (LLS), Mr. Conrad Bolton, today called on local farmers and land managers to enrol now to vote ahead of the 2014 LLS board elections.
“The success of LLS hinges on strong local representation and now the local community has the opportunity to contribute and shape this new organisation,” Mr Bolton said today.
“We are now taking enrolments for the LLS electoral role as well as nominations to stand as a candidate to be on the North West LLS Board.
“This is an opportunity to be part of the inaugural LLS Board and drive a new era in service delivery across our region that will benefit locals and the local community.
“LLS is operational in January 2014 providing agricultural advice, biosecurity, natural resource management and emergency management services across NSW.”
Mr Bolton said, “because LLS was being established as a new organisation the Livestock Health and Pest Authority (LHPA) electoral roll would not be transferred”.
“To vote in 2014 current LHPA ratepayers must complete an application for enrolment on the LLS electoral roll form,” Mr Bolton said.
“And to stand for election you must complete a nomination paper for election form.”
The North West LLS includes Gunnedah Shire, Gwydir Shire, Liverpool Plains Shire, Moree Shire, Narrabri Shire, Tamworth Regional and Walgett Shire Local Government Areas.
