Natural resource management

Our communities and the people of NSW rely on the health of our natural resources and productivity of our landscapes.

Australia's agricultural industries in particular rely on sustainable water and vegetation management, healthy soils and biodiverse ecosystems.

In 2005, the Natural Resources Commission established a Standard for Quality Natural Resource Management to improve the consistency of practice, based on an adaptive management approach. The Standard is designed to apply to natural resource management at all scales including at the state, regional or catchment, local and property levels.

Local Land Services will consult with local communities, including landholders and Aboriginal groups, to develop strategies for natural resource management in our regions. Until Local Strategic Plans are developed, existing Catchment Action Plans continue to apply.
