North West Chair, Conrad Bolton
Conrad has a high level of community involvement in the North West region and has an appreciation of the difficulties facing rural communities.
He brings a practical, social and environmental perspective from his experience on Narrabri Shire Council, which included the role of Mayor. He was Chair of the inaugural Board of North West Local Land Services.
Conrad has a record in building relationships and working with others and has a clear understanding of the need to be proactive about managing natural resources and engaging the community in the management of these resources.
He has been involved in the development of proposals and submissions to local, state and federal governments to secure funding for local community projects; liaised and engaged with various agencies, departments and contractors; and has played a key role in many complex projects.
As a land manager, Conrad has gained experience in key environmental and natural resource management issues. He has a thorough understanding of efficient, environmentally-sensitive farming practices designed to have the best possible impact on soils, water, native vegetation and native animals.
He has an extensive background within the agriculture industry and has fostered strong relationships with farmers, service providers and government agencies. He has a clear understanding of the need to be proactive about managing our natural resources and engaging the community in the management of these resources.
Conrad is directly involved in agricultural and environmental issues that affect the Namoi Valley and surrounding regions and made it his personal challenge to develop and facilitate consultation about important environmental and practical issues.
He previously owned and operated the largest solely owned aerial spraying business in the southern hemisphere for 20 years and was also a member of the Royal Australian Navy in the late 1970s during which time he was awarded a Queen’s Bravery Award.
